The company has apparently locked the bootloader on the device with a 128-bit encryption key. This makes it pretty much impossible to load custom mods on the device.
Developers are urging the potential customers of this Tablet PC to rethink their decision to buy this model unless Asus changes their policy.
HTC has a similar policy though they now offer a program which allows their customers to unlock their device’s bootloader. This is an opt-in program and voids the warranty of the device.
Asus can follow a similar strategy to ensure that people who want a more open device gets that ability.
