Apple iPod selling big, Macs slows down

The makers of Macintosh computers, Apple have reported that they are selling more iPods than ever. However, the sales of Mac computers have somewhat slowed down. However, it is expected considering many customers have postponed their purchases to wait for the Intel powered versions, which would be replacing the entire lineup of Mac computers in the coming months.

The company also came out with their revenue figures. Apple reported better-than-expected earnings however, the outlook failed to meet the market expectations. The company said that they earned $565 million, or 65 cents per share, on revenue of $5.75 billion in the last quarter of last year. This is a massive improvement on earnings of $295 million in the same period the year before that.

However, Apple has started with a bang in 2006 launching the first Mac computers powered by Intel processors. Apple has launched the new iMac and MacBook Pro powered by Intel Centrino Duo range of processors and claims that these new products offer 2-4 times the performance of their older versions.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently said on their plans for 2006: “We are working on more wonderful products for 2006, and I can’t wait to see what our customers think of them.”
