AOL sells ICQ to DST

AOL has officially gotten rid of their instant messaging platform ICQ.

DST has acquired ICQ from AOL for around USD 187.5 million.

AOL had acquired ICQ back in 1998 for around USD 400 million.

Incidentally, AOL also operate their own instant messaging service named AIM.

AOL spoke about the deal: “As AOL continues its turnaround effort, we’re fortunate to find a great home for ICQ with DST.”
