AOL to release Active Security Monitor software for free
AOL has said that they would be releasing a free utility, which would help the users to check if they have the latest security protection on their computers.
This utility is called Active Security Monitor software and it will form part of the company’s security services plan.
AOL has already said that they would soon be entering into the security software market to challenge existing players like Symantec and McAfee and new players including the software giants Microsoft.
AOL Active Security Monitor is due to come out today and it checks for the presence of firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. It also checks if the user has installed the latest security updates for those programs and for the Windows operating system.
It also checks the settings of the Internet Explorer web browser to see if it is properly configured for safe internet browsing.
