Hyundai considering Grandeur model for India
Hyundai has done a marvelous job in the Indian market. They entered the Indian car market with absolutely no brand recognition. They brought in one of the worst looking cars around but still managed to defy all odds by becoming the second biggest automaker in the Indian market. The Santro is currently the second largest selling model after Maruti Alto and Hyundai is a brand name to be reckoned with around here. The company also happens to be the India’s largest exporter of automobiles!
They are however not doing so well in the luxury segment where Sonata is failing to entice more users with luxury cars from Honda and Toyota taking away the customers. Even their Terracan faces big challenge from the Honda CRV. They are not giving up, as their next plans are even bigger. Hyundai is considering launching Grandeur in India.
It is a much larger model than Sonata, the current luxury segment offering from the company. It was designed with plans to target the highly competitive and demanding European and American market. And with expected price if launched in India to be above Rs. 20 lakhs, it would be taking on Skoda Superb and Mercedes C Class heads on. Something, which would require special attention by the company.
The car is big enough to match the size of a Mercedes E Class. It is designed to give a soothing feeling to the owner and the version available in the current markets comes powered by a 3.3-liter V6 engine. This engine produces 233 BHP and 31 kgm of torque. The car will surely raise the standards the company would have to match to cater to the consumers that would be targeted for this model.
