Symantec updates their security applications
The maker of the popular Norton range of security products Symantec has updated their Norton Internet Security platform. The application now tries to be more user friendly as it now offers plain-language guidance on safe-computing strategies in a new module called the protection center. They have updated three applications: Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton AntiVirus 2006, and Norton Personal Firewall 2006.
All of these products offer different range of security features as per the requirement of the user on his computer. Internet Security 2006 combines the powers of Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton AntiSpam, Norton Privacy Control, and Norton Parental Control in a single package. The company is no longer offering the antispam component as a standalone product.
The products also feature a newly introduced Security Inspector. This module helps the user monitor his browser security settings, weak Windows passwords, or potential risks associated with shared directories. These are some of the most common ways of losing important information to hackers and becoming a victim of a phishing attempt.
The newly introduced Norton Protection Center is designed to help the consumer with their system and data security problems. It aggregates and summarizes what users need to know about security issues using simple, everyday language to make security relevant to the activities consumers use their computers for. Overall, the company has worked hard on making their products more relevant in today’s times and offer help to new users of computers.
