Britney Spears for Yahoo!, Janet Jackson for Google
Search engine Yahoo! recently said in a statement that Britney Spears dominated their search engine queries this year. Now, Google is out with their stats and interestingly, another pop icon Janet Jackson dominated the searches on their engines. However, considering the year has been full of natural disasters and terrorism strikes, the stats from these companies show how irrelevant these issues can get when compared to the glitz of the showbiz.
Another strange reason for having Janet Jackson on the top of searches on Google is that her infamous wardrobe malfunction occurred quite long time back, she seems to continue hog the limelight on the internet. She managed to overtake the hits related to the Katrina Hurricane, Tsunami disaster and other high profile news stories of the year.
She did make it into the mainstream news this year when tabloid news claimed that she secretly had a daughter 18 years ago. Janet Jackson refused this claim. She also made news when paparazzi shot a video of her sunbathing naked and the images were released on the net. Some of the other popular stars to make it to the top lists on Google’s yearly release were Hilary Duff, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Chad Michael Murray.
