Jeff Bewkes is the new President and COO of Time Warner
Just after the company successfully managed to sign on a lucrative deal with the search engine, giant Google in relation to their online division AOL, Time Warner has announced the name of their new President and COO. Former HBO chief Jeff Bewkes would now be the new President of the company.
He would also be taking the position of the Chief Operating Officer, which he was sharing with Don Logan. Logan retires at the end of this year. This announcement also seems to have cleared the path for Bewkes to become the next CEO of the company after current Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons. Logan is expected to become a non-executive chairperson of the board of Time Warner Cable whenever he decides to step down. Time Warner is hoping to spin off this division after completing a three-way deal with Comcast.
Bewkes on the other hand has been the chairman of Time Warner’s Entertainment & Networks Group since July 2002. He looked after the operations of Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, HBO and Cinemax, CNN, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network and The WB Television Network. After taking over his newer responsibilities, he would also be overseeing the other half of Time Warner’s businesses like Time Inc., AOL, and Time Warner Cable.
Dick Parsons said on this announcement: “Jeff contributed to our recent achievements by overseeing record-breaking performances at our filmed entertainment and networks businesses, and providing critical leadership for cross-company initiatives involving the digital distribution of content. His previous record of stellar achievement at HBO speaks for itself.”
