Kingfisher Airlines to offer discounts to government employees
Liquor Baron Vijay Mallya owned Kingfisher Airlines has announced special plans to cater to government employees. The airline company said that they would be offering special fares to all personnel currently serving in the Indian Armed Forces, the Government of India, and any State Government and for employees of all Public Sector Units.
The offer would be applicable on immediate families of these personnel – parents, spouse, and dependent children. They would be eligible to receive reduced and special fares on Kingfisher Airlines to all destinations served by Kingfisher Airlines. These special discounts are based on flight duration and start at Rs 1,999 for all sectors that are of one-hour duration or less.
For flights of duration between 1-2 hours, the fares would be Rs 2,999. More than that and the fares would be Rs. 3,999. Other fees like Airport taxes of Rs 221 per ticket are not included in these discounted prices. The offer is applicable from now and would extend until March 31, 2006. These prices make most of these flight fares cheaper than the other low budget airlines.
Market analysts however believe that it will not affect players like Air Deccan or GoAir, as their low prices are applicable to all customers. Kingfisher Airlines on their part said in a statement: “Kingfisher Airlines is committed to delighting its guests and the introduction of special reduced airfares for government employees and the Armed Forces is yet another token of our commitment to innovation and excellenceâ€.
