Leading South Korean automaker Hyundai has announced that they are increasing the prices of their Santro model in the Indian market by around 2%. The wholly owned subsidiary of South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Co., Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has taken this decision to meet the rising costs of manufacturing and transporting the vehicles to their destinations.

The company said in a statement: “The retail prices have been raised in the range of 7,000 to 12,000 rupees across all the four variants”. There are several factors, which have increased the input cost of the products in the last couple of months, and the company decided to pass on a part of that extra pressure to the end consumers.

Maruti Suzuki, the market leaders in the Indian automotive scene, is also expected to bring a hike in their model range sometime next month. The company had hinted that they would be going in for another hike in prices whey they previously increased the prices of their models back in September.

As for Hyundai, after this price hike, the Santro XK (S) will be available at Rs 3,39,999, Santro XL (S) at Rs 362,999, Santro XO (S) at Rs 3,88,999 and Santro AT (S) at Rs 4,36,324.
