VeriSign acquires Moreover Technologies
VeriSign Inc. has announced plans of acquiring the company Moreover Technologies. The startup is a web-based distributor of content services like news and blogs. The deal is expected to be worth around USD 30 million. The company said that the deal combines privately held Moreover’s links to more than 12,000 news sources and millions of blogs and their own delivery module for such content.
Some of the big names Moreover provide their service too include MSN, AskJeeves, and BBC. The news of this latest acquisition comes just after a couple of days after VeriSign acquired Weblogs Inc. That deal was worth around $2.3 million.
This latest deal is said to be targeted towards gaining the mobile user’s attention. This is a growing market of users who like to get content on their mobile phones on the move. With both these acquisitions, VeriSign now has potential content generators to target this particular audience.
The resources of VeriSign would give Moreover the financial stability it requires to stay afloat in this ever-competitive market.
