Infinity planning Mobile Broadcasting in the United States
Sunday was a busy day in the tech world as Infinity Broadcasting announced their plans to enter the mobile broadcasting market. The company said that they would soon be broadcasting programs to mobile phones in the United States and that includes text-based content to the prospective subscribers.
Their services would let consumers buy stuff like tickets, ringtones, and other things from their mobiles in addition to checking dates for events and song names and titles. Infinity is a part of the Viacom Incorporation and is one of the first broadcasters to commit for mobile content delivery with the service called Visual Radio.
Nokia is developing the mobile phone solutions for this upcoming technology being co-developed by Infinity and Hewlett-Packard. Many other players in the market like the top U.S. radio station operator Clear Channel Communications Inc. are also looking in this emerging market to deliver content to mobile phones.
