Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard in a deal
Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd and Hewlett Packard India have entered into collaboration to develop solutions to fulfill the need of the emerging small and medium business community in the country. Both the companies together aim to roll out a “smart office” initiative to offer organizations integrated, “out of the box’ IT solutions.
These solutions would be customized to the requirements of each business entity. For this, they would also be creating easy-to-use desktop solutions by pre-loading versions MS Office on a range of hardware options from HP. For the servers, Hewlett-Packard would be offering their Proliant range of servers with Window Server 2003 and Windows Small Business Server 2003.
The companies said in a joint statement that the desktop and server solutions sold under this new initiative are targeted to specifically suit the needs of SMB customers in the country. Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd spoke about their initiative: “the products combines best of breed software and hardware options, are out the box, require minimal set up, and are cost effective”.
