White House nominates Shana Dale for NASA deputy administrator position
With Michael Griffin settled in his position as the eleventh Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the White House has nominated Shana Dale for NASA deputy administrator position. If Shana were appointed, she would be taking over from Fred Gregory who decided to resign a couple of days ago.
Griffin said that he was delighted with the news of Shana being nominated for this top position in the American space agency. He added that Shana “would be a valuable addition to NASA’s team as we carry out the president’s vision for space explorationâ€. Shana has served as staff director on the House Science Committee’s space and aeronautics subcommittee in the late 1990s.
She was recently promoted from chief of staff and general counsel at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to be that office’s deputy director for homeland and national security. She is a lawyer by education having earned her degree from California Western Law School. These are tough days for NASA as they recover from the damage Katrina Hurricane caused to their various sites and the entire Space Shuttle fleet grounded indefinitely.
