Ford showcases iosis Concept at 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show
Struggling in their domestic market of United States, Ford is going to display their iosis Concept automobile at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This model is expected to define an exciting new design direction for Ford of Europe. It is based on the design of the Ford SAV Concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and demonstrates the Ford’s new ‘kinetic design’ philosophy.
Martin Smith, Ford of Europe’s Executive Design Director said in a statement about their new design philosophy: “iosis is more than just a show car; it is sending a message about how Ford of Europe’s future design will be defined. It sends a bold message because our future products will be bold.”
With the iosis concept, the European division of the Ford design team has embraced the marquee’s core values in an expressive, new design language. The design demonstrates how the same component set used for the SAV Concept shown at Geneva can be applied to an entirely different type of vehicle.
Martin Smith added: “The interior follows the same direction as the exterior design. We connected futuristic materials with sophisticated materials. There are very technical materials like rubber compounds combined with leather, and neoprene combined with high quality aluminum components, for example.”
