FedEx orders six A300-600 freighter aircraft from Airbus
Europe based aircraft manufacturer Airbus has announced that they have received orders for six A300-600 freighter aircraft from the U.S. express-mail transporter FedEx Corp. These planes are to be delivered by 2007 and help the company catch-up with their prime rivals in their field, US based Boeing.
However, the company has not released any financial details of this business deal with the giants of freight carriers based in the United States. The deal however includes options to buy more planes in the future if the FedEx feels the need for it. There are also no details on the engine selection by the FedEx.
These new plans would join an impressive existing fleet of more than 100 Airbus aircrafts. It includes 47 A300-600 freighters and 54 A310 freighters. In addition, FedEx has also ordered 10 super jumbo A380s and will be the first freighter operator with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2008.
