15% hike in fairs for Air Deccan
Air Deccan has announced plans to increase the fairs of the tickets for their flights by around 10-15% something this month. However, they are not going to bring any changes to the scheme based Rs. 1 and Rs. 500 price packages for their tickets. Air Deccan Managing Director, Capt G.R. Gopinath said in a statement: “We plan to increase our fares which are above Rs 3,000 by 10 to15 per cent.â€
These hikes are expected to be applicable in the coming days. The airline justifies this hike on the rising fuel prices of the aviation turbine fuel (ATF). They however clarified that their would also be no change in the prices of the tickets on their ATR aircraft. Captain Gopinath also denied reports that the airline had filed its prospectus with SEBI regarding its IPO.
Air Deccan however has plans to go for an IPO sometime next year. The occasion was the company’s tie-up with IndiaTimes Web site and now consumers can buy their Air Deccan plane tickets from the popular Indian web portal itself. The company also plans to bring in mobile booking for their tickets.
As for statistics, Capt Gopinath said the airline would fly 4 million passengers this fiscal, which is nearly 25 per cent of the total number of passengers who flew last year domestically.
