Apple iTunes capture 80% market share in the UK market

The latest figures from Official Charts Company shows that the Apple iTunes online music store has taken 80% market share of the segment in the Britain market. The users seem to be very happy with the service they are getting and as a result, the iTunes has become a sensational hit in the United Kingdom.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes said in a statement about this news: “We’re thrilled that music fans in the UK have made the iTunes Music Store their number one choice for purchasing digital music. We feature the largest catalog in the UK with over 1.7 million songs and strive to bring iTunes customers the hottest new and exclusive content in the world.”

Data from the Official Charts Company says that Apple iTunes in UK occupies approximately 80 percent of digital music sales of all the music stores in the country combined. Apple has on offer more than 1.7 million songs from the major music companies and over 1,000 independent record labels, as well as 10,000 audiobooks along with 15,000 Podcasts on their British version of the iTunes Music Store.
