Audi expecting US market boom in 2006
German automobile giants Volkswagen’s luxury car unit Audi has said that they have high expectations from the US automobile market this year. The company is expecting to see a rise in their car sales by at least 6%. They have just launched the new sport utility vehicle Q7 in this market and are expecting it to be a success in the market where both Ford and General Motors are struggling badly.
Audi reported a similar growth in the year 2005 when they recorded a growth of 6.6 percent. The company sold around 83,066 units in 2005. Audi is also scheduled to launch this Q7 model in the German market in the month of March this year. Their target is to sell at least 70,000 units of the Q7 in 2007. More than half of these sales are expected to come from the US market.
If we look at the worldwide market, Audi had set themselves a target of selling 820,000 units for 2005. They have yet not confirmed if they managed to achieve that. Audi sales chief Ralph Weyler just said that the company did good overall business in 2005. They are expected to release their sales figures for last year at the motor show in Detroit later this month. They further have plans to reach global sales target of 1 million units in the next two years.
Audi also entered the Indian market last year and have plans to expand their vehicle range here in the coming months.
