Tata Motors reports improved sales in the month of December
One of the dominating players in the diesel vehicle segment in the Indian auto market, Tata Motors has reported improved sales figures of their cars in the month of December 2004. The company reported sales figures of 35,598 vehicles (including exports) for December last year. This is an improvement of close to 11.4 per cent over 31,951 vehicles sold in December 2004.
The cumulative sales for the company further grew up by around 9.7 per cent to touch 3,06,184 units. The company also reported improvement in the sales of commercial vehicles in the market. Tata Motors reported that their sale of commercial vehicles last month, in the domestic market, was 18,730 units. This was a minor improvement of 1.4 per cent over 18,467 vehicles sold in the same period in 2004.
Tata Motors sold 6,977 units last month, an increase of 40 per cent over December 2004. In addition, they managed to sell around 2,753 units of their other model Tata Indigo. Their Multi Utility models, Sumo and Safari accounted for sales of 3,307 units, an increase of 32 per cent. As a result, the company reported a cumulative sales of 24,000 units in December last year which is their best ever performance in any month since the beginning of their operations in this segment.
