Paramount Home Entertainment supports Blu-Ray

The latest media company to join the Blu-Ray bandwagon is the Paramount Home Entertainment, which has now declared its support for the Sony backed next generation DVD standard. They are just the latest in the series of growing list of media and technology companies endorsing Blu-ray. Other big names in the list include Apple, Hewlett-Packard, and Dell.

However, the company has clarified that they would be most likely to deliver their content on the competing standard HD DVD as well considering some customers would be using these players as well. HD DVD standard is developed by Toshiba and is backed by the likes of Microsoft, Intel, and Universal Studios.

The company took time to announce their preference as they analyzed the cost and copy protection solutions available as per the statement released by the company. They also said that the higher storage space available on this standard made them chose Blu-Ray over HD DVD standard.

Thomas Lesinski, president of Paramount Pictures, Worldwide Home Entertainment said in a statement: “We have been intrigued by the broad support of Blu-ray, especially the key advantage of including Blu-ray in PlayStation 3.”
