Google apparently turned on ‘GPU compositing on all pages’ setting in Chrome Flags in a recent update and it is causing more damage than good.

If your computer lacks a powerful GPU, Chrome might actually perform badly with this change.

You can test it out on your own Chrome install by disabling this setting in chrome:flags.

chrome://flags/#force-compositing-mode-2

Latest build of Chrome dev channel has disabled this option so it looks like Google has realized the problems with this setting.
