Google is betting big on robots. After building the world’s most popular mobile platform Android, Googler Andy Rubin is now working on a brand new division focused on robotics.
And Google has already acquired around eight companies for this new division. The biggest and the most important of them being Boston Dynamics.
Boston Dynamics do not make commercial robots that are sold in the market. Instead, they are mostly into R&D and fulfilling corporate and military orders.
They supply robots to for example the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in USA.
Google has clarified that they would fulfill all existing contracts but have no plans to become a military supplier in the near future.
