Google Chrome OS Files app can now play MKV files directly

Google Chrome OS has natively supported .mkv files for a long time now. The latest dev channel build has added the support to the Files manager.

Users can now run the videos right there without opening it in Chrome. Even SWF files can now be opened right within the Files app on Chrome OS now in the latest dev channel update.

File formats supported by the Chrome OS:

Microsoft Office files (read-only): .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx
Media: .3gp, .avi, .mov, .mp4, .m4v, .m4a, .mp3, .ogv, .ogm, .ogg, .oga, .webm, .wav
Images: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp
Compressed files: .zip, .rar, .tar, .tar.gz (.tgz), .tar.bz2 (.tbz2)
Other: .txt, .pdf
