Fiat India continues to expand their independent dealerships in the country. The company is aiming to have around 112 outlets by 2014.
The company has been selling their cars through Tata showrooms for the last couple of years. The collaboration did not work well for them as Tata dealers were known to promote Tata cars over Fiat cars.
Fiat said that they are aiming to have a 5% market share in India in the coming years. And for that they need to have an expansive dealership network.
Right now they have around 28 independent dealerships in India. The latest one was opened in Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Rajkot and Vadodara are next on the list in this state.
Fiat is not doing very well in India. Last year they sold just 10,000 cars in the market. In comparison Maruti sell 25000 units of their Alto model each month!
