Facebook announced today a major change in their algorithms that deliver content in user news feeds.

The company said that the updates are focused on pushing higher quality content from brand pages on user feeds.

Facebook said:

While the goal of News Feed is to show high quality posts to people, we wanted to better understand what high quality means. To do this we decided to develop a new algorithm to factor into News Feed. To develop it, we first surveyed thousands of people to understand what factors make posts from Pages high quality.

The company is suggesting brand owners to focus on creating high quality content that generates more user engagement helping them extend their reach on their platform.
